C'est v.v Il est

Hmm ...bit confused by the use of C'est in the translation for the very last sentence. Surely, the statement is not general (as per the hint) but applies specifically to 'les rogails a la saucisse ..etc. and is similar to examples in section 2b of the C'est/ Il/Elle est Tutorial  ..... 'Tu aimes mon pull ? -Oui, il est très beau.'

Hi Barrie,

There was a hint -

"It was..."= general statement

so

c'était assez épicé et absolument fantastique

is correct.

Bonne Continuation !

Barrie - a specific statement could be made here about "le rougail de saucisse", but a difference between French and English, is that French indicates whether a general or specific statement is being made - 'c'est' for general,  'il/elle est' for specific. With the hint given, only 'c'est' fits - indicating a comment on the Creole picnic menu generally, not just the last dish mentioned.
